ABOUT SWAG

SWAG was formed out of the need to respond to the immediate threat being caused from a planning application submitted for greenfield land adjacent to Richmond and Westbourne Avenues.
However, SWAG exists in order to provide support to defend Wrea Green, its local environment and the community, from all large and inappropriate developments that may be proposed in future.

OBJECTIVES

To raise public awareness of the effect of new development on the existing community, amenities and infrastructure

To raise public awareness of the impact of development upon the natural environment

To highlight the importance, benefits and significance of local environmental matters

To rally and encourage support for our aims through advocacy, promotion and information

To collaborate with individuals and organisations to achieve our aim

To encourage and involve a broad spectrum of the community in SWAG and its activities.

Support from all residents is necessary to help challenge planning applications. For example:-

Research and lobbying

Fact and information gathering

Leaflet and poster distribution

Petition coordination and collation

Submission of individual letters

GET INVOLVED
We are a friendly group of volunteers working together to help protect Wrea Green, its surrounding environment and the local community from the threat of inappropriate development. We welcome those who support our aims.

REGISTER FOR NEWS
If you have an interest in the Wrea Green area you should register for news.
We will be sending information and news about planning applications and responses.
There is no charge for signing up, we simply want to be able to keep you in touch with what's happening.

CONTRIBUTE YOUR SKILLS
If you have skills you think could help us we'd be pleased to hear from you. Whilst we want to hear from anyone willing to help, if you have specific professional expertise this may be particularly valuable. Applicants for large developments will invariably commission  expert professional evidence in support of their planning applications that may need to be strongly challenged. Alternatively, any help with leaflet delivery in your local area, and printing/publishing capability is also very welcome.

There are a host of things that need to be done to mount a robust defence. Please just email and tell us if you can help SWAG at: savewreagreen@yahoo.com
